Champions League finalists Tottenham have had a mixed transfer window despite completing a record-breaking deal for Tanguy Ndombele from French side Lyon.
Apart from Ndombele the North London side have not made any big money move but have instead lost right back Kieran Trippier to Atletico Madrid.
The club woes appear to continue as Barcelona midfielder, Philippe Coutinho has turned down a loan move to the club. Sky Sports had earlier labeled Spurs the favourites for the player. However there are new reports that suggest that a deal is off for the player.
Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino had personally called Coutinho to convince him of a move to the club. Pochettino has a personal relationship with Coutinho having managed the midfielder during his days at Espanyol.
It is thought that Tottenham had been willing to pay £21 million to take the player on loan. However, Coutinho is said to have his mind on a return back to former club Liverpool.
The 27 year old made a big money move to Barcelona from Anfield in 2018 and favours a return to the club on loan. Liverpool have also been rumoured to be mauling the idea of loaning the Brazilian star.
With just 24 hours left until the end of the window it is remains to be seen where the midfielder would end up ahead of the new season.
