One of the positives to take from the 1-1 draw against Perth Glory is that new manager Frank Lampard now knows the players he would work with, hence, the Blues are expected to record a win in their next game.
The Blues begin their tour of Japan on Friday as they face off against Japanese side Kawasaki Frontale.
Chelsea should be provided with stern competition from the Japanese league champions who have begun their league campaign.
The match would also provide Lampard the opportunity to field a strong side as he continues to build for the season.
The backline is expected to be similar to the last game with Spanish stopper Kepa playing in-goal as he approaches his second season at the club. Ceasar Azpilicueta, and Emerson are expected to play the fullbacks positions.
While Kurt Zouma and Andreas Christensen would be expected to start at the back as David Luiz is on extended break while Rudiger is currently recovering from a knee injury.
The midfield is where things get interesting as Lampard has lots of options. There are indications that French star N’Golo Kante could feature as he has recovered from his knee problems.
Mateo Kovacic could partner the Frenchman in the midfield alongside Danny Drinkwater.
The attack could see big signing Christian Pulisic make his debut for the club alongside Kenedy and Olivier Giroud leading the line.
Predicted Chelsea XI v Kawasaki Frontale: Kepa; Azpilicueta, Zouma, Christensen, Emerson; Drinkwater, Kovacic; Kenedy, Barkley, Pulisic; Giroud.
