Liverpool forward Divock Origi is reportedly happy at the club despite reports linking the forward to a summer exit.
The Belgium international was expected to have left the club last summer but stayed and played a part in the club’s Champions League triumph. He became the go-to player from the bench and delivered in big moments, scoring in both the semifinal and final.
Sports outlets ESPN claims that the Reds are planning to offer the forward a new contract. The 24-year-old current contract runs out next summer and the club wants to prevent a scenario where he leaves on a free.
Origi joined Liverpool from French side Lille in 2015 and has struggled to hold down a starting role at the club. During his five-year stint at the club he has been sent to several clubs on loan including Lille and Wolfsburg.
It is understood that there are several clubs interested in the forward, which includes some of the newly promoted EPL clubs and Turkish outfit Besiktas. .
Origi is a good forward and works well as a squad player for Jurgen Klopp. He gives the team an alternative to the fearsome front three if Mohammed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino.
Origi made 20 appearances for the Reds starting just six of the matches. He contributed six goals and a solitary assist last season.
