Whilst the Arsenal fans are keening over their club’s failure to dole out £30m for Yannick Carrasco, the club has made conscious steps to sign another attacker.
According to report from the Daily Star, Arsenal are on the verge of sealing the transfer of Brazilian attacker Gabriel Martinelli.
It is reported that the Ituano attacker has agreed to sign a five-year deal with the north London club. Sources from Brazil are claiming that the Gunners are set to unveil the player as their first summer signing after both sides agreed to a £6m deal.
Football.London reports that although the deal has been sealed, no official announcement will be made until the player turns 18 on 18thJune.
This looks like a coup, as the likes of Liverpool and Barcelona were reported to be keen on the player.
Martinelli may have not garnered the needed experience to feature at top level, however he is considered one of the top talents in Brazil. The young forward recorded 10 goals and 6 assists in 21 games for Ituano to attract the attention of the Arsenal scouts who believe he is one for the future.
Martinelli does not need a work permit, as he meets the requirements for an Italian passport through his father. He is expected to be the direct replacement for Danny Welbeck who is due to leave the club after his deal expires this summer.
