Unai Emery has an onerous task in making sure Arsenal finish in the top four next season.
Arsenal FC have only signed Brazilian teenager Gabriel Martinelli but they are expected to make more signings this month as well as secure the future of their top players.
It has been confirmed that Nacho Monreal has made a quick turnaround to sign a new deal with Arsenal. The Spanish defender’s contract ran out last month after the club failed to reach an agreement with the player. Talks had begun since last summer but both sides failed to reach a compromise.
However, it is now reported that Monreal has agreed a one-year deal with the north London giants – a deal which would see him still earn £65,000 per week – with option of extending into 2020-21 season.
Monreal was earlier reported to be under the radar of several Spanish clubs, as the likes of Real Sociedad and Real Betis were lurking around to sign the 33-year-old on a free transfer.
The left-back made 24 appearances last term, and 22 of those were made in the English Premier League games. His injury in October saw him ruled was out for over one month with a hamstring injury. However, he returned to compete for the left back spot with Sead Kolasinac.
Meanwhile Arsenal are in talks to sign Celtic full-back Kieran Tierney who would bring depth and competition to the left side of the defence.
