Crystal Palace forward Wilfred Zaha has informed the club that he intends to join Arsenal this summer. The Ivory Coast international has been linked with a move away from the club this summer as he seeks a new challange.
It is believed that Zaha has appealed to the club to reduce the valuation on his transfer. The Eagles value the forward at £80 million which is partly due to the 20% sell-on clause they agreed with Manchester United.
Arsenal are thought to have just £40 million available for transfers and Zaha’s valuation is twice the transfer kitty available. It is understood that the failure to qualify for the Champions League has led the club to cut on its expenditure this season.
However, manager Unai Emery has told the club that he wants a wide forward due to the lack of width offered by the attack last season.
Zaha is considered as one of the best-attacking players outside the top six. The 26-year-old has an array of tricks that makes him a handful for opposing defenders. He would be an excellent signing for the Gunners.
However, this looks highly unlikely as Crystal Palace are unlikely to accept any offer less than £60 million for the forward.
It remains to be seen how this transfer would develop in the coming days.
