£80m-rated United target Phillipe Coutinho hands in transfer request

Manchester United have been linked to a host of players as the club looks to strengthen after a disappointing season.

One of the players linked to the club Phillipe Coutinho has reportedly submitted a transfer request to his club.

Reports in Spain claim that Coutinho has told Barcelona that he wants to leave in the summer after a torrid stint at the club.

Coutinho made a big money move to Barcelona last season from Liverpool after spending five successful years at Anfield. However, his time in Barcelona has been torrid with the player failing to justify the huge fee with quality performances.

He has struggled to impress in a star-studded Barca team and have fallen out with the fans at different points of the campaign.

It is understood that Barcelona are ready to cut their losses and have placed an £80 million price tag for the player.

Manchester United are one of the clubs that have been linked to the player as they look to bring star quality to their squad and view Coutinho as a good replacement for Madrid linked Paul Pogba.

Coutinho would be a good signing for the club as he understands the EPL and can thrive as the creative hub at United.

This report is one to monitor in the coming days as it continues to develop.
