The transfer window has reached the point where clubs begin to announce potential deals. However, there have been minimal activities thus far but it looks like that is about to change in the next few days.
Reports from Italy suggest that Arsenal are close to their first signing of the season as the club looks to bring Torino star, Armando Izzo.
Arsenal have been in search of a centre-back and it looks as though the club have settled for the Italian international. The report revealed that Izzo’s agent was in London to finalize personal terms with the Gunners in what would be one of the surprise transfers of the summer.
There have not been much updates about Arsenal’s interest in the Torino defender but it looks like the London club kept this transfer secret from the media.
It is understood that Arsenal are looking to pay £18 million for the defender but Torino are demanding a transfer fee of £26.7 million.
Izzo is a quality defender and a late bloomer who came into limelight over the past two seasons. The 27-year-old defender recently made his full debut for Italy in March and scored four goals in 37 league games last season.
Arsenal have a transfer budget of £40 million and the club are looking for bargain signings to bolster their squad this season. If the club can spend less than £20 million for the defender it would be a good deal for the club.
