Arsenal are reportedly close to signing Sampdoria pair Dennis Praet and Joachim Andersen according to reports from Italy.
Italian journalist Nicolo Schira revealed on Twitter that Arsenal are confident of securing deal for the duo and have offered a transfer fee of £42m million.
He tweeted: “Tonight #Arsenal have sent a new offer to #Sampdoria for Joaquim #Andersen and Dennis #Praet: €48M for both.
“Steps forward for finalize the deal, even if Ferrero wants more.”
The Gunners are looking to reinforce their squad after failing to qualify for the Champions League under new manager Unai Emery.
There have been reports that the Spanish tactician has been provided with a limited budget of £40 million to spend and has resorted into looking for bargain signings.
Anderson is seen as a quality addition to the defence, which is clearly the weak area of the Arsenal squad. German ace Mustafi has been criticized for his performances while captain Laurent Koscienly has looked far from his best since returning from a long-term Achilles injury.
Praet is viewed as the replacement of Welsh star Aaron Ramsey who is on his way to Italian giants Juventus on a free transfer.
There had been reports that Sampdoria are holding out for a transfer of €50million for the duo but all signs suggest that a deal is close to fruition.
