Arsenal are reportedly close to signing Brazillian youngster Gabriel Martinelli according to reports from England. English news outlet Daily Mail claims that the London club have marked Martinelli as the first signing for the summer.
The report also says that the winger has committed to a move and the Gunners are looking to finalise the move in the next few weeks. It is understood that the move would have been completed but the club are waiting on Martinelli to obtain his Italian passport. This would make it easier for the transfer to go through without the requirement of a work permit.
Martinelli burst into fame in this year Campeonato Paulista as he was sensational netting six goals and providing three assists in the tournament. His performances caught the eye of several clubs in Europe with Chelsea and Manchester United said to be interested in the forward.
Arsenal are known for their commitment towards young players and Martinelli appears to have chosen the club. Unai Emery would be tasked with developing the highly rated forward with the potential to become a world-class performer.
Arsenal are currently involved in a late-season race for the top four. The Emirates-based outfit suffered a huge blow in their aspirations losing 3-2 at home to Crystal Palace on Sunday.
