Premier League giants Arsenal are confident of replacing transfer chief and Head of Recruitment, Sven Mislintat with Roma sporting director, Monchi. The former Sevilla transfer guru is one of the most in-demand sporting directors in world football having performed wonders with Sevilla, buying and unearthing erstwhile, unknown players and selling them on for huge profits.
Arsenal are in the middle of a fresh management reshuffle as it is believed that Mislintat was at loggerheads with Unai Emery about player scouting and acquisitions and will leave Arsenal next month after a relatively short tenure at The Emirates. The former PSG manager wants Monchi in the role at The Emirates stadium as both men worked to huge success at Sevilla and The Independent reports that Unai Emery has been asked about the suitability of Monchi for the role and has given the green light for the club to pursue the 50-year-old.
Mislintat had been earmarked for the Technical Director job but it has now been confirmed that he will be leaving the club after just 14 months on the job. The former Dortmund talent-spotter helped The Gunners broker the acquisitions of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Lucas Torreira and Matteo Guendouzi. He said after confirming his exit on Monday, ‘It’s been an amazing experience to work at a great club like Arsenal in what has been a big time of change, I am excited about what the future holds for the club and am looking forward to new challenges for myself.’
Monchi gained worldwide recognition for his work at Sevilla, which culminated in three Europa League victories, with Emery as Manager for all three.
