Premier League club, Arsenal are reportedly set to submit an improved bid for Celtic defender Kieran Tierney. Reports from England reveals that an initial bid for the left-back was rejected by Celtic but the Gunners are looking to offer better terms.
The Guardian, claims that the new bid is around £18 million which is still way below the £25 million valuation of the player by the Scottish club. However, there are indications that this new fee could be enough to seal the transfer for the defender.
Tierney is regarded as one of the best players in the Scottish League and has a similar playing style to Liverpool fullback Andy Robertson. The 22-year-old likes to make runs from deep and possesses a sweet left foot which makes him deadly from setpieces.
Arsenal fans would be hopeful that a transfer be agreed as soon as possible. Tierney is expected to feature regularly in the Arsenal first team if he eventually joins the club.
Current options in the positions are Spanish defender Nacho Monreal and Bosnia international Saed Kolasinac.
Kolasinac has failed to fully convince since making the move from Schalke some seasons back and the former is 34 and could make a return back to Spain this summer.
£18 million is a steal for a player of Tierney’s quality and we would be watching for more developments in the coming days.
