Coach Unai Emery deserves some applause, this is because, despite the limited budget worth £45 million made available to him, the manager continues to seek means to sign new players this summer.
According to the Sun UK, it reported that Arsenal are confident announcing the signing of William Saliba from Saint-Etienne.
The report stressed that the deal, which is worth £27 million, could have been completed earlier. However, the transfer had been delayed because Arsenal are on pre-season tour to the United States.
And they wouldn’t return until after play Real Madrid July 27th. This means they would have to wait till then before an official announcement is made. Willian Saliba is a promising defender and helped his club to nine wins in his eleven Ligue 1 appearances last season.
It is no hidden fact that Arsenal defended woefully last season in which they kept just 8 clean sheets, so adding a player like Saliba will help boost their defence.
Hopefully, the Gunners will complete the deal but it is reported that Saliba would be loaned back to Saint-Etienne.
Meanwhile, Arsenal are close to signing another Brazilian attacker Everton Soares who is reportedly set to undergo medical in Brazil after Arsenal agreed a £36m deal with Gremio.
