Arsenal are edging closer to finalizing a move for Saint-Etienne defender William Saliba according to reports in France.
The 18-year-old has been linked to the club all summer and it is reported that the French club are willing to sell for £27 million.
Saliba is considered as one of the next rated defenders in France after enjoying a breakthrough season for Saint-Etienne last campaign.
The 18-year-old is strong in the air, has excellent position and has the ability to bring the ball out of the defence to initiate attacks.
It was reported by some quarters that the French side were willing to make a deal with the Gunners to sell the player and take him back on loan for next season.
However Arsenal boss Unai Emery is against this arrangement, as he believes that the defender could break into the first team next season.
French tabloid Le10 Sport revealed that the Gunners could finalize the deal in the next few weeks but Manchester United have emerged as a late competitor for the signing of the French u19 international.
This transfer looks like one that is far from over and we expect some twist and turns in the coming days.
