Arsenal are in prime position to sign Uruguay midfielder Nahitan Nandez according to reports from England.
Nandez was a target for Leeds United but it is believed that the club has shelved its plans for a transfer after a failed bid to the Premier League. Nandez is one of the highly rated midfielders in South America and has developed into a solid midfielder.
The Uruguay international has played 22 games for his county and formed a solid partnership with compatriot Lucas Torreira at the FIFA World Cup in Russia.
It is understood that Unai Emery is in the market for a central midfielder after the exit of Aaron Ramsey to Juventus.
Nandez is capable of playing as a central midfielder, defensive midfield and his versatility make him a good addition to the team. At 23 years the midfielder still has a lot of years in front of him and could develop into a world-class performer.
Arsenal are on a tight budget with Unai Emery expected to be handed £45 million to fortify the squad.
Nandez is believed to be valued at around £25 million and this could be a sort of bargain signing that the Gunners need ahead of next season.
