Arsenal have begun talks with French Club PSG over the signing of fullback Thomas Meunier according to French media.
RMC (h/t Daily Mail) reports that the Gunners are keen on the player but PSG wants £27 million plus other bonuses for the defender. This demand by the French champions according to the report is to dissuade Arsenal from making the transfer.
Meunier is valued at £22 million by Arsenal who are preparing to make a formal bid for the player. Arsenal boss Unai Emery is keen on reuniting with the player that he brought to PSG and has informed the club to sanction the transfer.
Meunier is viewed as a player that can fill in the fullback position for the London club who had to rely on midfielder Ainsley Maitland-Niles to play that role last season.
Emery has a tight budget and Meunier is a bargain considering the bags of experience that he brings to the club.
The Belgium international is considered as an elite fullback but is yet to cement a spot in the first team since his arrival in Paris.
The 27-year-old made 31 appearances for the Ligue 1 champions last season scoring five goals and providing seven assists. With Arsenal rivals Manchester United interested in the player, the Arsenal fans are in for a summer of twist and turns regarding this transfer.
