Arsenal are hoping to steal a march on their close rivals in the chase for Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos.
A story by Metro reports that the Gunners are preparing a mega bid for Ceballos in a bid to sign him on a permanent transfer. It is reported that Madrid are open to selling the highly-rated midfielder and have told interested clubs the 22-year-old could leave for around £45m.
The report goes on to say Tottenham are still discussing with Madrid but it is actually Arsenal who are considered favourites in the chase for the Spain international.
Spurs are weighing their options and could include Christian Eriksen in the bid for the Madrid star.
Apparently, Unai Emery is ready to empty his war chest in a bid to sign Ceballos who was impressive for Madrid in the 2018/19 season. He made 34 appearances for the Spanish giants and registered three goals.
The arrival of Eden Hazard, Luka Jovic and Eder Militao would most likely relegate Ceballos to the bench and, in extension, out of the club. Also, Madrid are looking to recoup funds having budgeted over £300 for transfers this summer.
Arsenal are in hunt for a worthy Aaron Ramsey replacement and have recorded a failed bid for Yannick Carrasco. Ceballos could yet be their man if they match Madrid’s valuation of the versatile midfielder.
