Premier League outfit Arsenal are set to enter a bidding war with Real Madrid for Flamengo hotshot Reinier Jesus according to reports from Italy.
Italian tabloid Tuttomercatoweb claims that Arsenal are ready to move for the player who has caught the eyes of Real Madrid. Jesus is regarded as one of the hottest teenage prodigy in Brazil and has featured prominently for the youth sides of Brazil and Flamengo.
The 17-year-old midfielder, who grew up idolizing Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane, has spoken previously of his desire to play under the legendary Frenchman.
Arsenal boss Unai Emery regards the player as an excellent addition for the future and Arsenal have made inquiries about the player’s value.
Jesus has a release clause of £60 million but Flamengo would be willing to sell at a lower price. This transfer looks like one that could be out of reach for the London club.
Arsenal are currently hampered with financial issues as it is understood that Emery was provided with a transfer kitty worth £40 million. It makes no sense for the club to spend such huge fee for a player that is yet to make his professional debut.
Real Madrid are the favourites as they have previously made big money move for young Brazilians and signed Vinicius Junior for £45 million from Flamengo just two seasons ago.
