Liverpool summer target Nabil Fekir has split with his long-time agent Jean-Pierre Bernes. This decision appears to be the final fallout of the botched transfer in the summer. Fekir was close to a move to Anfield last summer after impressing with Lyon last season.
The Reds had agreed to pay a fee within the region of £53million but the move failed to materialize with the local media claiming that the 25-year old had failed a medical. It is understood that Fekir was furious with his agent’s inability to close the deal leading to sour relations between both parties.
Bernes revealed on Saturday that he had terminated the contract with the player which was billed to be renewed on April 17. According to the Bernes, the relationship turned sour as both parties had different opinions about his future.
Despite the disappointment of the failed transfer Fekir has been impressive for French side Lyon and has been linked with a move back to Liverpool. this latest development could be part of the steps that the World Cup winner is taking to ensure a successful transfer at the end of the season.
Liverpool are currently second in the Premier League race a point behind leaders Manchester City ahead of their clash at Cardiff City on Sunday.
