According to reports from The Express, Inter Milan forward, Ivan Perišić is closing in on a move to Arsenal as he aims to leave the San Siro. The Croatian international is ready to move to the Premier League after requesting to leave the 2010 Champions League winners, in the hope of fulfilling a life-long dream of playing in England.
He was linked consistently to Manchester United when Jose Mourinho was in charge, but a deal failed to materialise, as both clubs failed to reach an agreement on the transfer fee. News emerged on Sunday that The Gunners had launched an enquiry to sign Perišić on loan, though his current club would prefer a loan fee with an option to buy in the summer. That could be the stumbling block, as Arsenal can only sign players this month on loan deals, as confirmed by manager, Unai Emery.
Arsenal have a number of wide players but the likes of Mesut Ozil, and Henrikh Mkhitaryan are struggling to find any consistent form. The Gunners are level with Manchester United on 44 points despite holding an 11-point lead over The Red Devils earlier in the campaign. With so many injuries, Arsenal’s season has unraveled, losing form at a crucial stage of the season, and have already crashed out of both cup domestic cup competitions leaving the Europa League as their only realistic path to silverware this season.
Perišić has struggled at Inter this season despite having a good individual tournament at the World Cup in the summer. Both teams will need to reach an agreement if Perišić is to call The Emirates his new stomping ground, he is a two-footed winger that is known for his direct play, pace and shooting ability.
