Arsenal are set to announce the capture of Brazilian prodigy Gabriel Martinelli in the coming days according to reports in Brazil.
Martinelli has been linked to the North London club all summer and it appears that the transfer is close to completion. It was reported earlier in the month that the club were close to announcing the transfer of the player after he turned 18 which was last week Tuesday.
However, that appears to be false with recent news claiming that the club are holding off the announcement until July 1 when the new Arsenal kit would be launched.
Martinelli had been watched by Arsenal scouts last season and they were convinced that the player had what it took to become a quality player for the club.
Several clubs were interested in the player as well but Arsenal were able to convince him that the Emirates stadium was the right place for his talent to blossom. The youngster has been impressive in the Campeonato Paulista competitions scoring six goals and providing two assists.
The arrival of Edu as the technical director at the Emirates was also one of the factors that influenced his decision to sign for the Gunners.
Arsenal are also working hard to complete other transfers as they look to make the top 4 places next season. Martinelli cost the club €7.5 million.
