As the summer transfer window draws to a close, Aston Villa are reportedly hoping to sign another midfielder.
The report linked says Villans are chasing Leeds United midfielder, Kalvin Phillips. The report added that the newly promoted Premier League side have submitted a transfer bid worth £15 million to Leeds.
This comes after reports revealed that the midfielder refused to sign a contract extension with the club.
Despite submitting a transfer bid, Villa will face challenges from the Championship club who are not ready to let Phillips leave.
Even if Phillips is able to join Villa, he would have to prove himself to get enough playing chances at the midfield alongside Marvelous Nakamba and Douglas Luiz.
The 23-year-old midfielder is known for his passing and tackling prowess, which makes him an ideal defensive midfielder for any side.
To prove his passing and tackling accuracy, Total Football Analysis in an article stated that Phillips was Leeds third-highest passer and made the most tackles of anyone last season.
With Leeds United refusing to let him leave, Aston Villa might have to look elsewhere or forget about signing a new midfielder this summer. Kalvin will be Villa’s 13th summer signing if he makes the move to the Premier League club.
