Chelsea have been picked by various sport outlets to be the next destination for Nabil Fekirif he eventually departs Olympique Lyon in January.
There is heated speculation that the 24-year-old Lyon ace will be playing in the Premier League as soon as January if reports are to be believed.
The conviction by Chelsea’s boss Maurizio Sarri to go all out for the player is contingent on the all round display of the Frenchman against Premier League rivals Manchester City a couple of months ago in the Champions League.
A match the French club triumphed in by beating Pep Guardiola’s soldiers 2-1 at the Etihad. The return leg was equally eventful as they drew with the hitherto Premier League table toppers 2-2.
The player’s situation is also closely monitored by Bayern Munich who believe that their relationship with the Ligue one club in the past could help facilitate Fekir joining them instead of Chelsea.
Despite strong interest from Chelsea and German champions Bayern, Lyon president is hopeful that the contract extension offered to the player will convince their skipper to remain with them.
Prior, Nabil Fekir was very close to joining premier league giants Liverpool but last minute uncertainties stymied the deal.
It was initially reported that Liverpool pulled plug on the deal because of an injury concern but Michel Aulas, Lyon president, has said that he was the one that pulled the plug on the deal because of a change of heart from Liverpool.
The €60m rated playmaker is yearning to play in the Premiership and Chelsea seem to be eager to secure his services to bolster their team for the present and future.
