Chelsea FC will be making an announcement this week according to widespread reports circulating today.
It is reported that the west London club are close to announcing their new manager ahead of the new season. It is the worst kept secret that Chelsea have been able to appoint club legend Frank Lampard as their new manager. However, no official announcement has been made thus far.
The Sun says that the Blues are expected to announce Lampard as Maurizio Sarri successor ahead of the Pre season games this month. Chelsea kick off their club preparation with a friendly against Bohemians on July 10.
The players have been told to report back for club duties on Friday and Lampard is expected to have been unveiled on or before July 4.
The 41-year-old is in talks with the club after Derby County granted Chelsea consent to negotiate with their manager who still has two years on his current contract with The Rams.
Lampard was set to agree a fresh long-term deal with the Championship club before Chelsea came knocking. It is now reported that Lampard is set to sign a three-year contract worth around £16.5m to become the new boss at Stamford Bridge.
Roman Abramovich has agreed to pay a £4m compensation to Derby once Lampard move is sealed.
