Chelsea are reportedly interested in signing Serbian forward Luka Jovic according to reports from England. Jovic has emerged as one of the stars this season at German side Eintracht Frankfurt and has courted the attention of the top sides in Europe.
The 21-year-old forward has been sensational in the German league netting 17 goals in 27 matches and has shown quality throughout the season. it is understood that Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri is a keen fan of the player and wants the forward at Stamford Bridge ahead of next season.
Jovic recently signed a four-year deal with Frankfurt as the club, completed his transfer from Portuguese side Benfica. However, it is expected that the German side would be looking to cash-in on the player in the summer. Barcelona were thought to be the frontrunners for his signature but the Catalan outfit has pulled out of the race according to media reports in Spain.
Chelsea would have been in the perfect position to sign the player considering the obvious problems the Blues have upfront. Olivier Giroud and Gonzalo Higuain have failed to impress this season but the London club could be hamstrung by its current transfer ban from football ruling body FIFA.
Chelsea next faces Frankfurt in the Europa League semifinals and this would give Chelsea fans the chance to view their potential transfer target closeup. It would be interesting to see how this transfer develops in the summer.
