Chelsea are eager to sign quality players to improve their ranks for the now and the future. As the January transfer window draws near, mammoth number of players have been linked to the club.
Recently, former Newcastle flop Florin Thauvin who has reinvented his career after joining Marseille has been reportedly linked.
Thauvin’s 33 goals in 50 appearances for the Ligue one outfit was somewhat shot of extraordinary considering the forgettable experience he had while he was in the Premier League with Newcastle United.
The 25-year-old winger whose career resurgence has been overwhelming was amongst the French world Cup team put together by Didier Deschamps. They eventually won the competition in Russia after 10 years.
However, as much as Thauvin is happy with Olympique Marseilles, it will be impossible for him not to depart the club if their quest for Champions League qualification did not see light of day.
Lots of clubs, Inter Milan, Bayern Munich and Athletico Madrid are all interested in securing the player’s services.
On his part, the Frenchman will weigh every option before taking any leap to avoid a repeat of the England experience.
“I’m hungry for titles, that’s what remains at the end of your career. There is a big game to play on Wednesday,’ Thauvin told L’Equipe back in May. ‘As for other championships, Spain makes me dream and I like Germany a lot because it could be good for my game, but I’m not thinking about my future.”
Thauvin has until 2021 before his contract expires and he is supposedly worth about £41m according to reports from France.
