Chelsea are set to announce former midfielder Frank Lampard as their new manager this week according to reports from England.
The Blues confirmed the departure of former manager Maurizio Sarri last week after a single season in charge of the club. The Italian was announced as the manager of Italian side Juventus after both clubs agreed a compensation fee for the 61-year-old.
It is understood that Chelsea have made an approach to Derby County for the services of Frank Lampard and the club are ready to pay a £4 million compensation fee.
Lampard, who is the record scorer for Chelsea, began his coaching career a year ago at Derby County and impressed by taking the club to the promotion playoffs final.
The 41-year-old has already picked his backroom staff with his assistant Jody Morris and fitness coach Chris Jones expected to join him at Stamford Bridge.
His former teammate Petr Cech was recently announced as the new technical and performance adviser for the club and would work closely with Lampard as the bridge between the management and the first team.
Chelsea fans have already expressed their joy over the impending arrival of the Blues favourites and it remains only a matter of time before a move is announced.
