Manchester United are close to completing a move for Spanish winger Mateo Mejia according to reports from England. It is reported that United fended off late bids from other top clubs in Europe to secure the signing of the highly rated youngster.
It is understood that Manchester United have agreed to pay Real Zaragoza a fee of £600,000 for the winger. Mejia is considered as one of the top young prospect in Spain and attracted the interest of several clubs across Europe in the last 12 months.
Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is thought to be the mastermind behind the clubs new transfer policy towards youth players. It is believed that he has told the club chiefs that it is better – for the club’s long-term future – to attract young players that could develop into the next generation of stars at the club.
Mejia is expected to move straight into the u18 squad but would fancy his chances of playing for the senior side in some of the cup competitions. Manchester United are still working on making some quality first team signings.
Crystal Palace defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka is reportedly close to a switch to the club in a deal that would make him the most expensive fullback in football history.
Also Sporting Lisbon ace Bruno Fernandes could also make his long-awaited move before the end of the week.
