The newly promoted club, Aston Villa are determined to work hard and remain in the Premier League next season and one of such ways is to recruit quality players to the team.
As it stands, the Villans have signed 10 players this summer and are now close to signing the 11th in the person of Neil Etheridge, from Cardiff City, according to Daily Express.
The Villans have seen their offer of £9 million rejected by Cardiff and are now ready to make a new move.
Aston Villa chief, Dean Smith is determined to bring in a new goalie and Daily Express report that should Cardiff City refused to allow Etheridge leave, they would turn their focus on Burnley goalkeeper, Tom Heaton.
The goalie would come at a cheaper price of £7 million, however, the issue is that he is not a long-term solution owing to his age.
Another goalkeeper on Villa’s list is Juventus goalie, Martia Perin, who is battling with limited playing chances at Turin.
So far Aston Villa have spent £115 million this summer, with their latest transfer deal cost £15m deal for Manchester City midfielder Douglas Luiz.
Their most expensive signing so far has been Club Brugge striker, Wesley, who cost them £23m
Below is a list of permanent deals completed by Aston Villa; Tyrone Mings, Matt Targett, Ezri Konsa, Trezeguet, Anwar El Ghazi, Bjorn Engels, Jota, and Kortney Hause.
