Liverpool forward Divock Origi is close to agreeing a long-term deal with the club according to reports from England.
The Belgium international was superb last season when called from the bench as he scored in the Champions League Semis and finals to help Liverpool win the title.
It is understood that the club wants to reward the 24-year-old with an improved five-year contract.
Origi has been contented with a fringe role due to the exploits of Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mohammed Salah. It is reported that Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp was impressed with the player’s attitude and contribution towards the course of last season.
This has been a spectacular turn-around for Origi who appeared to be on his way out of the club last summer after a series of loan spells. He was also close to leaving in January but remained to play a vital role at the club.
Origi is an excellent forward, as he possesses different qualities to Firmino due to his excellent hold-up play and finishing abilities. The Belgium star is a player that Liverpool cannot afford to sell, as he is swift and makes timely runs when leading the Reds attack.
The summer exploits of Mane, Firmino and Salah for their respective countries could see Origi starting the season as the main option upfront.
