There is good news for the Chelsea fans today as their club have sealed an exciting deal going into the pre-season.
Report from the Telegraph can confirm that the Blues have sealed the signing of Real Madrid midfielder Mateo Kovacic on a permanent transfer.
The west London club had to beat the June 30 deadline due to the FIFA transfer ban placed on them. The midfielder’s loan deal with Chelsea expires on the aforementioned date hence he still remains a registered player and could agree a deal with the club despite the transfer embargo.
It is reported that both that Chelsea had been in talks with Madrid and both clubs have finally reached an agreement of £40.25m for the player.
The duration of the contract is not mentioned but it is believed he signed nothing less than a four-year deal.
Kovacic was linked with a move to Inter Milan but the injury to Ruben Loftus-Cheek coupled with the transfer ban meant Chelsea had to keep the Croatia international at the club.
The 25-year-old played 51 games last term but failed to register a goal in as many games.
Elsewhere, Callum Hudson-Odio is on the verge of agreeing a five-year deal with Chelsea while Gonzalo Higuain will reportedly return to Juventus.
