Arsenal are reportedly interested in the signing of Fiorentina midfielder Jordan Veretout according to reports in Italy.
The 26-year-old has enjoyed a renaissance in Italy after struggling at Aston Villa during his time in England. He has developed into an excellent and sturdy midfielder for the Florence outfit since his move two seasons ago.
Arsenal are limited with the amount that they can spend in the transfer window and Veretout is seen as an affordable option for the club.
The departure of Welsh ace Aaron Ramsey to Juventus has seen the club light in numbers in the midfield region and a number of players have been linked to the club.
It is understood that Napoli are also keen on signing the 26-year-old and it is a two-way battle between the Naples club and Arsenal.
Veretout agent Mario Giuffredi has added more fuel to his client potential exit by revealing that the player has caught the interest of four to five clubs.
‘There are four or five important clubs who want Veretout, in Italy and abroad,’ he added. ‘I don’t like to name names, but we’ll see what happens and who steps forward to close the deal. ‘Jordan is one of the best in Europe. He has the quantity, quality and much more and he deserves a big club.’
A transfer fee of £25 million has been touted by media sources in Italy as the amount demanded by the club for his services.
It remains to be seen if the player would make a move to England as Arsenal have also been linked to Sampdoria ace Dennis Praet.
Veretout had a decent season for Fiorentina netting five goals and providing three assists in all competitions.
