Slowly but surely, Manchester United are making giant strides in this summer transfer window ahead of the new season.
According to a report by Evening Standard, United are increasingly confident of sealing a deal for Sporting Lisbon midfielder Bruno Fernandes.
It was earlier reported that Fernandes’ agent held talks with several English clubs in a bid to broker a deal for his client. Man United, Liverpool, Tottenham were the clubs mentioned to be keen on the player. However, it is now reported that United are in pole position to secure this attacker’s signature.
Sporting CP are eager to sell if any clubs meet their £70m valuation of the Portuguese international but reports from England suggest that United could take the edge off Lisbon’s valuation by making a £62m offer due to the seeming lack of interests for the 26-year-old.
Liverpool are only ready to offer £40m whilst Tottenham are waiting on contract rebel Christian Eriksen’s decision before making a move for Fernandes.
United have just concluded a £50m move for Aaron Wan-Bissaka and are expected to turn their attention towards other summer targets such as Fernandes and Sean Longstaff.
Fernandes recorded 31 goals in 47 appearances for Lisbon last season so it makes much sense if United eventually signs a player of his caliber going into the new season.
