Manchester United are set to make Crystal Palace defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka the most expensive fullback in football history according to reports in England.
The Red Devils had seen two bids already rejected by Palace and the Daily Recordclaims that United have agreed a deal worth £55 million for the defender.
The Old Trafford club are currently light in the fullback position with Ashley Young the only senior right-back following the departure of Antonio Valencia.
United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is keen on rebuilding in the summer following a disappointing season for the Old Trafford outfit. United conceded 54 goals which was the most among the top six teams in the League.
Wan-Bissaka is seen as a young defender that can bring quality experience to the fullback position. The England u21 international was one of the best fullbacks in the league last season and won the club’s Young Player of the Season award.
£55 million looks like a lot but that is the fee for a quality defender in today’s market and it looks like an official announcement will be made in the next few days.
United are also close to completing the signing of Portugal international Bruno Fernandes in what is likely to be a huge summer outlay for the club.
