Forget Nicolas Pepe, Liverpool eye move to sign another Ligue 1 attacker

Liverpool are reportedly interested in the signing of Bordeaux forward Francois Kamano according to reports in England.

The 23-year-old is regarded as a bargain transfer by the club and there are indications that a bid could be offered for his services this week.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is looking for replacement for Daniel Sturridge and Kamano fits the bill. The Bordeaux ace is a relatively cheap alternative that can replace the departed Sturridge and offers a different characteristic to the current front trio.

Liverpool had lost out on Nicolas Pepe to rivals Arsenal and the search continues for an ideal forward. It is understood that Bordeaux are demanding £20 million for his services. Liverpool have one of the strongest squads in the Premier League and the arrival of Kamano would add depth to the frontline.

The Reds have been quiet this summer as they have not made any major signings despite the exits of Sturridge and Moreno. it remains to be seen if the transfer would be made before the start of the season.

Liverpool are expected to challenge for trophies in the 2019/20 season and they open their season with the Community Shield clash against Man City in Sunday.
