Good news: Classy midfielder to complete Chelsea switch despite transfer ban

Chelsea are confident of completing the permanent switch of Mateo Kovacic according to sources close to the club.

The Blues were slammed with a two-window transfer ban last month which has casted some doubt over the possibility of Kovacic putting pen to paper on a permanent deal.

Kovacic arrived from Real Madrid last summer and there are reports suggesting that talks are underway for the midfielder, who is valued at £80M, to agree a deal with the London side, as Chelsea already have an agreement with Madrid for the deep-lying playmaker

According to Italian tabloid, AS, the good news is that FIFA already see Kovacic as a Chelsea player, and will allow the Blues buy him before June 30.

Sources from Spain report that Chelsea want Kovacic on another season-long loan with the option of €30m permanent deal. Metro Sport reports that the 25-tear-old is in talks with Russian side Zenit Saint Petersburg but it remains to be seen if the deal will eventually pull through.

Kovacic has been a regular in the Chelsea midfield where he has made 57 appearances in his first season with three assists to his name.

Meanwhile Chelsea could pull off similar deal with Gonzalo Higuain who reunited with former boss Maurizio Sarri in January.
