Manchester United are reportedly mulling over an offer for Barcelona midfielder Ivan Rakitic.
The Red Devils endured a torrid season, finishing outside the Champions League places and are looking to spend big in the summer.
Rakitic would represent a shrewd signing for the club as he possesses the star quality and ability to play at Old Trafford. The 31-year-old has been part of the first team at Barcelona since his arrival from Sevilla in 2014.
The exit of Ander Herrera from Old Trafford means that the club has to buy a Central midfielder in the summer and Rakitic fits the bill.
The Croatia international has been targeted by Barca fans after the shock defeat to Liverpool and he is widely believed to be on his way out of the club. Inter Milan have also been linked to the player alongside compatriot Luka Modric.
Barcelona are looking to sell the World Cup finalist for £43 million as they look to recoup funds for a marquee signing. it remains to be seen if Manchester United would be willing to spend that much for a 31-year old midfielder.
Rakitic has made 167 appearances for the La Liga champions scoring 24 goals.
