Manchester United are expected to make a huge outlay in the transfer market after a disappointing season. The club have been linked with Lille sensation Nicolas Pepe as manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants to add a wide forward to the team.
Pepe is valued at £70 million by the French outfit and it is understood that Manchester United have opened negotiations for the player. The 23-year-old was one of the best players in the French League this campaign leading the club to a second-placed finish behind PSG.
Former Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is a big fan of the player and revealed to French tabloid L’Equipe that Pepe is a top-quality player and would excel in any club.
This is high praise coming from a coach not known really for hyping players. Pepe would be a good addition for Manchester United as he would bring pace and goals to the team.
Manchester United struggled for goals last season with Alexis Sanchez, Lukaku and Martial failing to impress.
The Premier League giants have money to spend and it would be interesting to see how this story develops in the coming weeks.
Pepe scored 20 goals and provided 11 assists for Lille this season.
