Jurgen Klopp receive orders to sign Kalidou Koulibaly

Liverpool legend, John Aldridge has urged Jurgen Kloppto sign an A list defender to replace injury prone and defensive weak link, Dejan Lovren this January.

Following his recent injury set back against Wolverhampton Wanderers in the FA Cup 4th round, and his below par performance in the club’s defeat to Manchester City early this year, Aldridge wants him replaced.

The legend is picking Kalidou Koulibaly as the Croat’s ideal replacement. He believes that the Senegalese will significantly enhance Liverpool’s defence and also make them formidable in the title race run in.

Joe Gomez, 21, is currently side-lined after picking up an injury against Burnley in December.

Although he should be back any moment, the player’s all purpose performances has been missed because he was hugely impressive when played at the heart of defence alongside colossal Virgil Van Dijk.

Right now, the club have one senior defender in Van Dijk given that Joel Matip is also side-lined with an injury. So Aldridge is concerned at the crisis facing the club and has proffered an expensive but top quality solution.

Kalidou Koulibaly will set Liverpool back almost £90m as his Italian club want nothing less than that. It is an expensive option but a quality one.

Klopp is not very keen to sign a player this January but with injuries hitting at the wrong time, he might be forced to look for an answer in this transfer window.
