The Liverpool fans have endured an unusual transfer window with the Reds not making any big-money move. However, the Reds have completed yet another bargain deal by signing West Ham stopper Adrian on a free transfer.
The 32-year-old was unveiled on Monday in a transfer that surprised many. It had been expected that the Reds would bring a backup stopper due to Simon Mignolet’s exit to Club Brugge.
But Adrian’s name was not among those mentioned, and his signing came out of the blue. The new signing spoke of his delight on joining the club and wants to win titles at Anfield.
“I am feeling really happy; really happy to be here and to work in this great club and start doing my stuff on the pitch as soon as possible,” he told Liverpoolfc.com.
“I’m very ambitious, I come here to try to win everything, to try to push Ali from the first minute and to make us better.
“Obviously I want to win titles. I come here to fight for all the competitions.”
Adrian is most likely going to play the Cup competitions as Alisson is regarded as the undisputed number one at the club. The 32-year-old is regarded as a quality Premier League grade goalkeeper.
The arrival of Adrian means that he replaces Mignolet who earlier in the day signed for Club Brugge. Adrian is no stranger to the Premier League having spent the past six years at West Ham making 150 appearances for the club.
His transfer has been well recieved by Liverpool fans who believe he can contribute his quota to a successful season.
