Liverpool are among the host of clubs that are in the race to sign highly rated Lille forward Nicolas Pepe according to reports from Italy.
Italian reporter Nicolo Schira claims that Liverpool have tabled a five-year contract offer for the Ivory Coast International.
Pepe enjoyed a breakthrough season putting up great performances not seen at the club since the time of Eden Hazard. He was instrumental in the club’s return to the Champions League as he became both a creative force and a scoring machine.
Pepe performances naturally caught the attention of big clubs across Europe with the likes of Tottenham,Arsenal and Manchester United interested in his services.
Schira claims were further corroborated by French Journalist Mohamed Bouhafsi who tweeted that the Reds and Bayern Munich have begun negotiations for the player.
Lille are understood to have demanded a transfer fee of £70 million and have resigned to losing the forward in the summer.
Pepe would be an excellent addition to the Champions League holders as he would join a fearsome trio of Mohammed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino at the club. Pepe had his best career numbers this campaign as he scored 22 goals in 38 games last season, second only to PSG prodigy Kylian Mbappe.
