The transfer window continues to heat up with reports that Arsenal and Liverpool are in a tight race to sign Turkish star Dorukhan Tokoz.
Sport Witness reports that Liverpool have joined Italian side Udinese and Arsenal in the race for the player. Tukoz currently plies his trade for Turkish giants Besiktas and is considered as one of the best midfielders in Turkey.
His performances for Turkey in the 2-0 shock win over France further underlined his growing status as an excellent defensive midfielder.
Besiktas have already rejected an offer of €8m for the player and reportedly value the midfielder at around £10 million.
Arsenal and Liverpool are tracking the player as they see him as a cheap signing that could add depth to the midfield.
Tokoz has played primarily in the defensive midfield role but also capable of playing in the Central midfield position.
He enjoyed a breakthrough season for the Turkish outfit, scoring 3 goals and providing 4 assists in 20 appearances.
The Gunners are currently short of transfer funds and would use a player of Tokoz ability in the midfield with reports linking Egyptian ace Elneny with a move to Fenerbahce.
Liverpool meanwhile would use the 23-year-old as a backup for Brazilian Fabinho if he joins the club. It remains to be seen which club would be able to secure the signing of the Turkish international.
