Reports from Italy claim that Liverpool are ready to offer manager Jurgen Klopp a bumper new deal to remain at the club. Calcio Mercato reports that the new deal on offer would see the former Borussia manager earn £43 million across a five-year period.
It is understood that Klopp would be on a base salary of £8.5 million annually plus other performance-related bonuses. The German tactician has transformed the club since his arrival four seasons ago.
The fans have embraced his high tempo brand of football as Liverpool has become more exciting to watch in the past two seasons. He has led the club to consecutive Champions League finals and finished this season with the highest points total in the club history (97).
There had been some speculations that Bayern Munich and Juventus had been mulling over a bid for the 51-year-old tactician but Liverpool have moved quickly to secure his future.
Despite missing out on the Premier League title to Manchester City by a single point, Liverpool has a date with Tottenham in the Champions League Final on June 1.
It would be a befitting end to the season if Klopp can secure his first title for Liverpool since moving to England in 2015.
