Liverpool have been speculated with a move for German left-back Philipp Max, according to reports from England. The defender has enjoyed an impressive season with Bundesliga side Augsburg and is highly rated within the German league.
It is understood that the German side are willing to do business with potential suitors and have placed a transfer fee of £17.94million. Spanish tabloid SPORT claims that Liverpool are weighing their options and are considering a bid for the defender.
Much has been said about the lack of depth in the left back position due to the exit of Spanish ace Alberto Moreno.
Jurgen Klopp is said to be pushing for the transfer as he wants more depth in the position. The Reds have been faced with a mini crisis in pre-season due to injuries to some of their backup left-backs.
Max is a decent player to provide competition for current number one option Andrew Robertson. At 25, he is about to enter his peak and offers excellent attacking abilities similar to that of Robertson.
The attacking fullback has once led the assist tables in the Bundesliga and at £17.94 would be worth the risk.
It remains to be seen whether a transfer would be made in the coming weeks as Barcelona are rumoured to be interested in his services.
