Liverpool have been quiet this off-season but the club could be on the verge of pulling a big transfer this summer according to reports from Germany.
German news outlet Bild claims that the Reds are closing in on the signing of Bayer Leverkusen star Kai Havertz.
The German international is rated as one of the best young players in the German League and has been linked with a move to other clubs in the past. Leverkusen are reluctant to sell the player but have informed Liverpool that the club would have to splash close to £90 million for his services.
Havertz enjoyed a breakthrough campaign last season, as he was able to perform consistently for the German club. The 20-year-old scored 20 goals and created a further seven goals in all competitions which has seen several clubs take notice talents.
Havertz is understood to be a key target of Bayern Munich but Liverpool are looking to hijack the transfer by offering a sweet deal for his services.
Havertz has three years left on his contract which gives Leverkusen the leverage to demand a huge fee for his services.
The Reds are thought to be interested in a creative midfielder and the likes of Coutinho. and Nabil Fekir. However Havertz is younger than both players and could develop into a quality addition.
