Man Utd young goalkeeper and England international, Dean Henderson is now set to remain at Old Trafford after he had initially rejected the Red Devils offer to extend his contract.
The Daily Mail now reports that Henderson and Manchester United are on the verge of agreeing on terms for a new contract, which will come with a loan transfer back to Sheffield United.
Henderson helped Sheffield United get promoted to the Premier League last season.
The new contract shows that Man Utd still have Henderson in their future plans especially after his performance with Sheffield last season.
David de Gea is also reportedly ready to sign a new contract with Man Utd, which further sends the message that Henderson will have to leave on loan next season.
United, however, do not want the 22-year-old goalie to leave permanently after he made 21 clean sheets from 46 appearances for the Blades last season.
Moreover, Henderson is still young and it would be best to have him gain more experience to become a replacement for De Gea, who is 28 and has been somewhat inconsistent for the Red Devils.
Henderson’s performances for Sheffield show he has the ability to become United’s first choice goalie in the foreseeable future.
