Man United eye move for Tottenham defender – not Toby Alderweireld

Manchester United are hoping to recruit the services of right-back this summer to salvage a somewhat depleted defense which is in need of quality legs.

According to Daily Mirror, The Red Devils are interested in signing Tottenham defender Kieran Trippier. It is reported that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has the right-back on his wish-list of potential defenders.

This is coming on the back of news linking another Tottenham defender Toby Alderweireld to the Old Trafford.  Unlike Alderweireld, Trippier’s contract with Tottenham runs until the summer of 2022, hence Spurs are not in any hurry to sell to any club.

United are in dire need of defenders to shore up their defence which conceded 54 League goals last term. The right back position is not left out, as Antonio Valencia is leaving the club on a free transfer this summer.

Diogo Dalot, aged 20, is in need of adequate competition to bring the best out of him, hence the need to sign a quality player in that position.

Futher report from the same source says that United are also eyeing Crystal Palace star Aaron Wan-Bissak should talks for Trippier hit a brick wall.

Meanwhile, Man United are also reported to have no problems paying £22million for the signing of PSG defender Thomas Meunier.
