Manchester United have been in the news with the club confirming the transfer of Swansea hotshot Daniel James.
According to the Sun, the Red Devils are reportedly close to confirming a new deal for pacy winger Jesse Lingard.
It is understood that both parties have been in negotiation for a while and the new deal would see him earn within the region of £130,000 weekly.
Lingard still has two years left on his current contract but United are keen to tie his future to the club long-term. Lingard is considered an important player in the current squad managed by manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
The 26-year-old came through the youth ranks and has since etched his name into United’s first eleven. His work rate and penchant for scoring important goals have made him a favourite at Old Trafford.
Despite, the wage increase Lingard is far away from being among the highest paid player in the club. Alexis Sanchez and Pogba are believed to be earning £400,000 and £275,000 weekly wages respectively.
Lingard probably merits a new contract but would need to perform to a higher level next season. The England International scored just four goals in 27 Premier League matches for Manchester United last campaign.
