Manchester United are reportedly interested in signing Olympique Lyon forward Moussa Dembele according to reports from England.
Reputable journalist Duncan Castle reports that Dembele is viewed as the perfect replacement for Romelu Lukaku who is believed to be on his way out of Old Trafford.
Lukaku is rumoured to be a target for Inter Milan this summer with new manager Antonio Conte keen on signing the forward.
Lukaku is yet to fully convince at Old Trafford despite his decent record of 42 goals in 96 matches for the club.
Dembele, however, has been impressive this season since his big-money move to Lyon from Scottish side Celtic. Initially struggling for game time at the start of the season the 22-year-old was able to provide a good return of 20 goals in all competitions.
It is understood that United are ready to make a transfer bid of £35 million for the forward but Lyon would want a fee closer to £45 million for his services.
This transfer looks like a strange one as Dembele is not a better player than Lukaku, and we don’t see how he makes the team better.
But with the report revealing that Dembele is not expected to be the first choice forward, he would be a decent backup forward for the club.
