Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is determined to sign a new central defender to his squad this summer before the close of the transfer window.
Man Utd have been linked to England international, Harry Maguire from Leicester City, however, the Foxes are playing hardball as they are demanding for a transfer fee worth £90 million which the Red Devils are not willing to pay.
We are not ruling out Man Utd interest in Maguire as anything can still happen between the two clubs before the August 8th deadline, but it seems the Red Devils are already working out a second plan.
Reports from Spain have linked the Red Devils with moves to sign France international, Samuel Umtiti from Barcelona.
The reports added that Man Utd are ready to pay €50 million for the center back which is below the Catalans valuation of the player.
Barca are said to be demanding for €60 million from any club interested in Umtiti.
Apart from Man Utd, bitter rivals Man City are said to have taken interest in the French defender at some point.
Umtiti has made 63 appearances for Barcelona with two goals to his name since joining them in 2016 from Lyon. He is known to be a tough defender and knows how to use his body to block the opponent.
However, we believe Man Utd and Barcelona can reach a common ground if the Red Devils can open the floor by first submitting a bid. However, Maguire remains the No1 target for the English club.
